Lung cancer is the world's top cancer killer, claiming more than 1.3 million lives per year. Once thought to be only a smokers' disease, statistics now show that over half of new cases in the U.S. are not attributable to tobacco use, and that lung cancer in never smokers is a leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation is committed to preventing lung cancer through education and research. With your help, we can develop simple imaging and blood tests that can be used for the earliest detection of this otherwise lethal cancer that affects all of us - smokers, non-smokers and former smokers alike. Although the current five year rate of survival for Stage III Lung Cancer is 10%, when caught at Stage I, that rate jumps to 56%!
