Why Run for Team Labrecque?

  • Fundraising support. Our helpful staff is always available to help you with any questions you have and provide you with the tools you need. Each team member will be able to set up their own personal webpage, making fundraising easy and successful.
  • Raise money for the #1 cancer killer. By running for Team Labrecque, you will be making a difference in the fight against lung cancer, which takes more lives annually than breast, prostate and ovarian cancer combined!
  • Unforgettable team experience. Each Team Labrecque member will receive guaranteed race entry, team gear, invitation to team gatherings, a team dinner the Friday evening before the marathon, and the opportunity to make a difference in the fight against lung cancer.

Team Labrecque History

In September of 2000, Thomas G. Labrecque, former chairman and CEO of Chase Manhattan Bank, was diagnosed with lung cancer and died eight weeks later. Tom never smoked and was in good health prior to his diagnosis. The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation was founded in 2003 by the Labrecque family in honor of Tom’s memory to raise funds and create awareness about this deadly disease. To date, the Foundation has raised over $6.5 million dollars for lung cancer research and awareness.

The TGL Foundation was honored to be chosen by New York Road Runner (NYRR) as a charity partner at the inception of the charity program for the ING NYC Marathon three years ago. Since running our first marathon as a team in 2006, The TGL Foundation has had more than 300 people join as members of Team Labrecque, and raise funds for our cause. Whether you are a veteran marathon runner or this is your first run, Team Labrecque is always looking for enthusiastic people to be a part of our team!
